Benefits of blogging...
- Teachers can set up blogs that post due dates of homework assignments and other important dates for students to be aware about (i.e. exams, conferences, upcoming assignments, etc.)
- Teachers can also post important dates such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day, in which links are provided and students are given the opportunity to research why certain holidays originated and how they are celebrated. A great way to integrate Social Studies with the use of technology.
- Students are given the opportunity to express their thoughts, ideas, and opinions, in which they will receive feedback from not only their teacher, but from their classmates and students across the globe. This will allow students to gain a global perspective on many issues.
- Parents can access their child's classroom blog and also see important dates to remember and also to have another way of communicating with the teacher.
- Blogging can be used in an abundance of literacy activities that include reading, writing, researching, etc. Links can include many resources for all subject matter and students are able to go beyond the textbooks and explore math, science, social studies, and the arts all through the Internet!
